UCBAAPT expands on the successful academic-clinical partnership between the UCSF School of Nursing (SON) and Bay Area community-based healthcare organizations.
Our clinical partnerships were created through the shared mission to improve healthcare and promote health equity for medically disadvantaged populations and to provide education and clinical practice training for advanced practice nursing (APN) students.
UCBAAPT addresses the current workforce and health equity crisis through three main goals:
- Recruit and support APN students (UCBAAPT Scholars) and faculty,
- Prepare APN students to deliver high quality care to medically disadvantaged populations through expansion of academic-clinical partnerships and experiential learning, and
- Prepare APN students to transition-to-practice with medically disadvantaged populations and build a robust APN workforce pathway to serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
