Clinical Partnerships

UCBAAPT expands on the successful academic-clinical partnership between the UCSF School of Nursing (SON) and San Francisco Bay Area community-based healthcare organizations.

Our clinical partnerships were created through the shared mission to improve healthcare and promote health equity for underserved populations and to provide education and clinical practice training for advanced practice nursing (APN) students.

UCBAAPT addresses the current workforce and health equity crisis through three main goals:

  1. Recruit and support APN students, aka UCBAAPT Scholars, and faculty from diverse and underrepresented minority backgrounds,
  2. Prepare APN students to deliver high quality care to underserved populations through expansion of academic-clinical partnerships and experiential learning, and
  3. Prepare APN students to transition to practice with underserved populations and build a robust APN workforce pipeline to serve in HPSAs.
